As you can see, the Mazda CX-30 is more compact than the Mazda CX-5. From a design standpoint, that’s really all you need to know. On the interior, the Mazda CX-30 is a bit more sophisticated as it comes with standard Nappa leather and wood trim. One of the main mechanical differences lies under the hood. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 comes standard with a SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an available mild-hybrid setup. That means that whenever you coast or brake, the internal combustion engine shuts off and the vehicle runs on electricity. Meanwhile, the 2019 Mazda CX-5 comes standard with a 187-horsepower, SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with Cylinder Deactivation. A turbocharged 250-horsepower SKYACTIV®-G and a new diesel-powered engine are both available on upper trim levels.
