The CX-30 has finally joined the Mazda lineup, and it’s as great as the hype has been saying. The new CX-5 is also looking really, really good. So how do you choose? Let’s explore the two a little bit.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 has a subcompact crossover body style built on top of the Mazda3 chassis. The CX-30 handles as responsively as the Mazda3, but with a higher center of gravity. It has cargo space similar to that of the Mazda3 hatchback.
The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is newest iteration of the second generation CX-5. It radiates quiet confidence, ready to outmaneuver other crossover SUVs on its way to the top. Handling is impressive, despite its body style. It has 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up.
They both have the exact same 2.5L Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine. However, the CX-5 gets access to a supercharged version of that engine. The CX-30, as of the time of writing, does not. The CX-30 is a prime candidate to receive the revolutionary Skyactiv-X gasoline-powered diesel-style engine, though, thanks to it sharing a chassis with the Mazda3, which already has a Skyactiv-X version in Europe that will be headed to the States in 2020.
They’re both fantastic crossovers. It comes down to personal preferences here. Do you prefer smaller vehicles or want to spend less? Go with the CX-30. Do you use a lot of space or want something a little more powerful? The CX-5 is a great choice.
Schedule a time to test drive them both, so you can figure out which is right for you.
