2019 Mazda CX-5 vs 2019 Honda CR-V

The CX-5 has been taking the US market by storm. With Mazda bringing home its fifth consecutive US News & World Report “Best Brand” title, its no wonder why. But how does the crossover do against stiff competition?

Today, we’ll figure that out. Here’s the 2019 Mazda CX-5 vs the 2019 Honda CR-V.

Superior Drivability

The CR-V is pretty darn good when it comes to handling, but it has nothing on the CX-5. The CX-5 absolutely dominates the road (and the competition) when it comes to steering and handling. It handles hairpins and switchbacks with as much ease and grace as slow banks and long straights. It has unrivaled poise, no matter the conditions. The steering provides fantastic feedback with a pleasant amount of weight that instills confidence in all conditions. Higher than base level trims offer AWD and a turbocharged engine, giving the driver even more confidence to tackle tough roads and conditions.

Battery-Draining Debacle

Do you have off over the weekend? Don’t plan on going anywhere? With the CX-5, that’s no problem. You can let your car sit and it will start up again, no sweat. Seems pretty normal, right? Well, the CR-V might not. CR-V drivers have been reporting dead batteries in their vehicle after only two days of no use. Honda isn’t covering it either. The tech featured in the 2019 CR-V seems to be draining the battery, even while the vehicle is off. Honda says that they are aware of the issue, but that it is not a malfunction. That means they aren't fixing it.
